Question 1

I've tried so many treatments. How is Back Solutions different?

Accepted Answer

We understand that frustration. Many of the people Rick has worked with have already spent years trying different treatments and approaches, often investing considerable time, money and effort, only to experience temporary relief before their back pain returns. Our approach looks beyond where your back hurts to explore the muscular weakness, protective guarding and movement patterns that may be contributing to your ongoing difficulties. This isn't another exercise program where you're given a routine and left to figure things out on your own. Through Neuromuscular Facilitation (NMF), Rick works closely with you, guiding you through carefully selected movement patterns, assessing how your body responds and continually refining your movements to improve muscular activation, coordination and function. Resistance and difficulty are progressively increased as your body develops the capacity to manage them — not before. The goal isn't simply to make you stronger. It's to restore natural, functional movement so the everyday activities you love can once again become part of what keeps your body strong, capable and confident.

Question 2

Will I speak directly with Rick Saunders?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every initial consultation is personally with Rick, the founder of Back Solutions. Rick experienced debilitating chronic back pain himself and has spent approximately two decades developing and refining his approach while personally working with thousands of people facing similar challenges. Rick also personally guides patients through their ongoing NMF program, reviewing their progress, refining their movements and progressively building their strength and confidence. You're not simply given a set of exercises and left to work things out on your own. You'll receive individual guidance from the person who developed the approach.

Question 3

How can an online consultation help with my back pain?

Accepted Answer

Over two decades of working with thousands of people experiencing chronic back pain, Rick discovered something remarkable: some of the most encouraging progress came from the carefully selected movements people were doing in the comfort of their own homes. What surprised him most was the feedback. Rather than struggling to motivate people to do their exercises, many patients were telling him how much better they felt afterwards. They enjoyed the movements, looked forward to doing them and often wanted to do more. Rick often found himself encouraging them to slow down rather than pushing them to keep going. That experience became central to the Back Solutions approach: finding movements that help you feel better while progressively restoring muscular function, strength and confidence. And today, technology makes delivering that personal guidance from a distance easier than ever. Rick can review your history, scans and previous treatments, discuss your symptoms and observe how you move over video. Between consultations, simple smartphone recordings allow him to assess your progress, refine your movements and adjust the level of challenge as your body improves. Another consistent theme in patient feedback was the convenience of working on their recovery at home — fitting movements around their daily lives rather than making repeated trips to a clinic. Today, online consultations and simple smartphone videos make it easier to combine that flexibility with the individual guidance, feedback and progression that are central to the Back Solutions approach.

Question 4

What will I take away from my first consultation?

Accepted Answer

The aim is for you to leave with a clearer understanding of your situation and a practical direction to consider. You'll have the opportunity to discuss what you've tried, explore factors that may be contributing to your difficulties, and understand how our approach could apply to you. Rick will also discuss whether further guidance, a different form of care or additional medical assessment would be appropriate. It's an individual consultation focused on your circumstances — not a generic presentation or a commitment to a program.

Question 5

I've had back pain for years. Is it too late to do something about it?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. Many of the people Rick has worked with have experienced persistent back pain for years, sometimes after numerous unsuccessful treatments. Long-standing pain can involve established protective habits, changes in movement and reduced strength or confidence. These are among the factors our approach seeks to understand and address. Every person's circumstances are different, but having lived with back pain for a long time doesn't automatically mean there are no options worth exploring.

Question 6

Will I need to commit to an ongoing program?

Accepted Answer

No. Your initial consultation is a standalone appointment. There are no compulsory treatment packages or long-term commitments. If further guidance could be helpful, Rick will explain the options, and you can decide whether you'd like to continue.

Question 7

How much does it cost, and will I need ongoing appointments?

Accepted Answer

Your initial consultation is 45 minutes, one-on-one with Rick Saunders, for $189 USD. Chronic back pain often takes time to overcome. Our approach is designed to progressively rebuild movement, strength and confidence, with ongoing guidance tailored to your individual progress. If you continue after your initial consultation, the costs are straightforward: Second Extended Consultation — 30 minutes | $150 USD Build on your initial consultation with a personalised approach to restoring movement and strength, establishing a practical foundation for lasting progress. Ongoing Weekly Progress Reviews — $89 USD 15-minute personal consultation with Rick, plus review of your submitted videos and progress notes. As you rebuild strength and movement, Rick will monitor your progress, refine your exercises, help you navigate setbacks and guide you towards the activities you've been missing. Personalised guidance, reassurance and a clear path forward — every step of the way. No expensive upfront packages. No long-term contracts. No hidden costs. Appointments are paid for individually, and the frequency and duration of ongoing support are guided by your progress and individual needs. All consultations are conducted online on a private-pay basis. We do not currently offer direct health insurance billing or guarantee reimbursement.

Question 8

Do I need a referral to book?

Accepted Answer

No. You can book your initial consultation directly. If your symptoms or medical history suggest that a medical assessment is needed, Rick may recommend seeing an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
