Chronic back pain · Houston, TX
You may not have run out of options.
If you've spent months, even years searching for answers, tried treatment after treatment and still find yourself living around your back pain, you're exactly the person Back Solutions was created to help.
We focus on understanding why your pain keeps returning — and helping you find a practical way forward.
Does this sound like your story?
Have you tried everything — and started to lose hope that anything will last?
Some things haven't helped at all. Others bring welcome relief — but only until you sit too long, stand too long or try to get active again.
You're told to take it easy. You feel a little better, return to ordinary life, and another flare-up sends you back to square one.
You've heard the findings, collected the reports and seen the specialists. Yet you're still wondering why the pain keeps returning — and what you can actually do about it.
You plan your life around protecting your back and avoiding the next flare-up.
You know you need to move, yet every attempt can leave you feeling more vulnerable, more cautious and less confident in your own body.
You don't want to spend the rest of your life managing your back pain. You want your life back.
We've been where you are
You've tried everything. You get some relief. Then the pain comes back.
Our founder, Rick Saunders, knows exactly how frustrating that can be. His own experience with chronic back pain ultimately led him to develop a different approach.
While studying health science and playing sport at a high level, our founder Rick Saunders injured his back. He tried multiple approaches. Some made no difference; others helped briefly, only for the pain to return when he sat, stood or tried to get back to sport.
A turning point came through working with an elite sprint coach who identified areas of weakness and helped Rick rethink how to rebuild strength. Rick combined those performance principles with his health science education and professional experience, developing a carefully staged approach to restoring muscular function.
Over the next two decades, Rick personally worked with thousands of people facing similar frustrations, learning how to adapt that approach to people who couldn't simply push through exercise.
Your initial consultation is with Rick — someone who has been where you are.
We're not a general clinic that tries to treat everything. Persistent back pain is our focus, especially for people who have started to lose hope.

Relief matters. But when your back pain keeps returning, why does nothing seem to last?
You can feel yourself getting weaker. You know you need to rebuild your strength, but every attempt seems to aggravate your pain. So you protect your back, avoid certain activities, and gradually lose confidence in what your body can do.
You know something needs to change. But how do you break the cycle?
Our approach is designed to help you find a way forward — starting where you are, restoring muscular function and gradually rebuilding strength and confidence without simply pushing through the pain.
Not a miracle cure. Not another generic exercise sheet. A focused, individual pathway — with someone to guide you through it.
The Three Whys
When your back hurts, protecting it is natural. But over time, some muscles become tense and dominant while others gradually weaken. You try to get stronger, yet exercising through those same protective patterns can make the pain worse — so you do less and lose more strength.
You know you need to get stronger. But every time you try, your back seems to punish you for it.
Massage, manipulation, medication and rest can all bring welcome relief, and medical care and imaging have important roles. But if the underlying weakness and protective movement patterns haven't changed, the pain often returns once everyday life resumes.
Relieving the pain and addressing why it keeps returning can be two very different things.
Persistent back pain is all we focus on. Through our Neuromuscular Facilitation (NMF) approach, we find a manageable starting point, then progressively restore muscular activation, coordination and strength — without simply forcing your way through pain. And you're guided by Rick Saunders, our founder, who overcame chronic back pain himself and has spent two decades developing this approach while personally helping thousands of people facing the same frustrations.
Our goal isn't simply temporary relief. It's to help you regain strength, confidence and the freedom to enjoy your life again.
